Following the inaugural issue on art and advanced technologies in 2020, Future Art Ecosystems: Art x Metaverse (FAE2)  turns the page on what it means to do ‘digital strategy’ at cultural institutions in the post-pandemic world. Analysing the advent of the metaverse—an always-online, persistent, spatial ‘second’ world—that represents a fundamental shift in the notions of digital infrastructure and digital presence, FAE2 proposes an ambitious agenda for the construction of 21st century cultural infrastructure.
